In chora do not forget to visit the Balkan war monument in the cape of chora (pasakrotiri). It is visible from all the coastal road of chora so you won’t miss it. The panoramic view to all the port is marvelous especially when the atmosphere is clean.
Not so original tip but still Kaktos is a summer bar with panoramic view to the surrounding islands. We suggest though, to visit the place when there is a full moon to enjoy the picturesque view.
In chora, there is an outdoor market, next to the road which leads to the Church of Virgin Mary. This market is indicated for souvenirs, local sweets and handmade jewelry and other stuff. It is perfect for an evening walk. Do not forget to visit the vertical alleys, the quality of the things there will surprise you.
Gastronomy of Tinos is well known among cyclades. Local products like Tinos sausage, sweet cheesepies, macaroons, brittle and cheese are exported to all greece and have a quite significant taste. Do not forget to buy from local patisseries before leave.
Even though Mykonos is famous for the heavy air pressure, Tinos is almost the same. Most of the time its windy during August, so be prepared for this. One Tip to avoid the annoying air is to visit southeast beaches, or just ask us to guide you. Also its better to rent a car than a motor bike to feel safer.
Tinos culture belongs to its villages. There are many villages in TInos that worth your time and you should visit. Its one of them has a history behind that you can find out when roaming in the narrow alleys and picturesque squares. Most of them have been modernized due to Tourism but all of them keep the Cycladian culture. Tinos is an Island of Arts so do not skip the museums.
